Matsuri-Za Nippon
PRG puts all of the parts together - seamlessly.
- The Challenge:

Create a spectacular contemporary showcase for traditional art forms.
- The Solution:
-
Over three evenings in summer 2005, more than 50,000 people filled Japan's Toyota Stadium in Toyota City for a festival of festivals - a national showcase of traditional celebrations, or matsuri, from cities and towns throughout the country. Popular contemporary Japanese singers appeared as special guests along with 14 troupes of dancers and singers performing treasured musical forms and rituals - some dating back more than five centuries.
PRG Asia provided complete production services for Matsuri-za and worked side by side with the event producer to bring together the many parts of the complex program. PRG's role included extensive planning as well as on-site operations and management, stage management and technical direction, transportation, and even catering for more than 1,500 performers.
In addition, PRG constructed the massive stage, which spanned the length of the stadium floor. PRG also supplied the lighting and sound equipment and crew that created the dramatic ambience within the enclosed stadium, as well as the audio and visuals for a video wall that projected the performances to the last rows of the audience. PRG Asia Lighting supplied Vari*Lite equipment, including 52 VL3000™ spots, 12 VL3000™ wash fixtures, and 28 VL5™ spots.
Organizers of Matzsuri-za Nippon, including Toyota Motor Corp. and event partner Aichi Expo in nearby Aichi City, were pleased with this inaugural effort to introduce Japan's festival traditions to a wide audience. They look forward to a future event that incorporates festivals from around the world in this colorful salute to tradition.
